Native T1 is predictive of abnormal myocardial strain in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

چکیده
Background Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is an autosomal dominant inherited disease, characterized by myocardial wall thickening in the absence of other etiologies of hypertrophy. Histologically, HCM is characterized by myocyte hypertrophy and disarray with collagen deposition. Native T1 time of the myocardium is increased in the presence of myocardial fibrosis. The purpose of this study was to determine if greater T1 time was associated with abnormal myocardial wall strain.

Myocardial T1 mapping as a diagnostic tool in pediatric patients with a concern for cardiac disease
Background Myocardial tissue characterization with both native T1 mapping and T1 mapping following gadolinium based contrast agents (T1 enhanced) has emerged as an important asset of CMR imaging [1]. However, there is only minimal experience in pediatrics [2]. Native T1 has shown to be a marker of myocardial edema, and may play a role in pathologic states such as myocarditis [3]. T1 enhanced ma...
متن کاملDiffuse Myocardial Fibrosis detected by Multi-slice T1 Mapping using Slice Interleaved T1 (STONE) Sequence in Patients with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
Background The presence of myocardial fibrosis is associated with worse clinical outcome in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) patients. Due to the substantial variations in left ventricular (LV) wall thickness and fibrosis in HCM, volumetric coverage of entire LV myocardium is essential for the accurate assessment of myocardial fibrosis. Slice-interleaved T1 (STONE) mapping sequence allows for ...
متن کاملNative left ventricular myocardial T1 spatial heterogeneity in non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy
Background Myocardial fibrosis is involved in the pathology of nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (NICM). Recently, the application of native (non-contrast) myocardial T1 measurement has been proposed as an imaging biomarker of cardiac remodeling. However, spatial heterogeneity in T1 measurements has been observed across different segments and slices. Furthermore, T1 values measured with curren...
متن کاملSize of myocardial fibrosis by LGE, pre- and post-contrast T1 and ECV in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy referenced to normal appearing myocardium or healthy volunteers
Background Myocardial fibrosis is associated with abnormal cardiac remodeling and poor prognosis in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Currently, new cardiac MRI (CMR) techniques such as T1-mapping and extracellular volume (ECV) measurement are available to quantify diffuse myocardial fibrosis. We analyzed the size of myocardial fibrosis using preand post-contrast T1, ECV and late gadol...
متن کاملThe necessity for full ventricular coverage with noncontrast T1 mapping in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Background Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a genetic heart disease characterized by diverse phenotypic expression. T1 mapping is a novel CMR imaging sequence aimed at characterizing abnormal myocardial substrate. Current protocols obtain a mean T1 value derived from a single mid-LV short axis slice (single slice protocol) or three short-axis locations: apical, mid-LV and basal (three slice...
